The M62 and M1 motorways provide rogue trades people and doorstep criminals with easy access to homes throughout West Yorkshire.

WYTS approached Bang Marketing with a brief to tackle this problem head on.

Bang's solution was to train social services' homecare assistants (who provide care for elderly and vulnerable people) about the dangers of doorstep crime.

Armed with this knowledge, the homecare assistants were then able to accurately assess which of their residents were at highest risk.

The identified residents were then given informal training in the comfort of their own homes and provided with materials that would remind them of the warning signs of doorstep crime. These materials included easy to read literature, telephone tags containing emergency numbers and reminder stickers which could be placed beside doors.

All of this material was aimed at educating the elderly and vulnerable without unduly raising the fear of crime.
